Happy Sunday morning! Today’s interview brings a change of pace. Let’s have a shout-out to editor, CaTyra Polland! You may recall last week’s interview with her about her books. This lady is multi-talented, as she edits as well as writes. If you would like to have her for your editing services, then follow her at Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and her Website!
What made you want to be an editor?
I have a knack for recognizing grammatical issues such as misspellings and mispronunciations.
What kinds of books do you edit? Genres?
I edit both fiction and non-fiction books. My preferred genre is non-fiction.
What kind of an editor are you? What are your services?
Developmental and copyright editing as well as proofreading.
Do you enjoy editing and why?
I love clarifying, simplifying, and enhancing the written word. It has been amazing working with others to finalize their manuscripts.
What kind of a routine do you have for editing?
I read and edit in a word processor document, highlight confusing or unclear sections and send the non-mark up version to the author. I also send a comparison document that allows the author to see the changes I made.
What advice would you give an aspiring author?
Write what matters to you. Don’t worry about what others may think. Your writing is personal, don’t let others discredit or discourage you. There is an audience waiting to read your work.
